Round 3 Inter A Kirwan League
Here are the full set of results and the League Table at the end of Round 3
Home Team IMP'S VP's Away Team IMP's VP

This is the League that keeps on giving. After round 3, all the teams are still in the same
position, but that in no way reflects the full story of the round. Less than 9 Victory Points
separate the top five teams now whereas 20 Victory Points separated them at the end of Rpind
2. Four teams have won two matches and lost one match. One team - Vernon has won one
match and lost two matches but is still in 2nd place. Going into Round 4, it is all to play for.
Vernon for the 2nd round in a row were involved in the tightest of matches, losing by 1 IMP and
by 9.75 to 10.25 VP’s when they came up against Bernie Dowling’s team from St Gabriel’s.
These two teams remain in 2nd and 3rd place after this “Near Draw”
.
The other St Gabriel’s team (My one) had an unexpected win over Donat O’Brien’s Malahide
team by 14.6 VP’s to 5.4. Despite this result, Malahide are still sitting pretty on top of the league
albeit that there are now four teams breathing down their neck.
In the last match of the round, the other Malahide team (Doris Bruderlin’s) travelled all the way
into St Anthony’s and came away with a win by 15.87 VP’s to 4.13. Like a lot of the other
Clontarf clubs, St Anthony’s have to be out of their venue by 22.15. This can mean that they are
unable to play a 24 board match. It was great to see such a spirit of cooperation when both
teams agreed to play 22 boards rather than 24.
On a personal note, I want to thank Donat O’Brien and his Malahide team for being so
considerate to me. I had a family bereavement on the day we were scheduled to play our match
and they didn’t hesitate in rescheduling.
The 4th round games are as follows and must be complete by 28th February

Good luck in the 4th round.
Dan.
