Round 5 Inter A Kirwan League
Linda Gallagher’s Vernon take Inter A Kirwan League honours. Here are the full set of results
and the League Table at the end of Round 5.
Despite only winning 3 of their 5 matches, Vernon ended up with a total of 66.41 VP’s after
picking up 18.19 VP’s in their final match against St Anthony’s, leaving them just 2 VP’s ahead
of Bernie Dowling’s St Gabriel’s team.
The last round contained two local derbies. Bernie’s team got to play my St. Gabriel’s team
which was strengthened by the fact that I was not playing. However my team was just not strong
enough with Bernie’s team picking up their 4th win of the league and collecting 13.72 VP’s
which was not quite enough to catch Vernon. There was no love lost In the Battle of Malahide
where Doris Bruderlin’s Malahide team came out on top when they also picked up their 4th win
of the league to finish in 3rd place.
Congratulations to the Vernon team of Linda Gallagher, Hugh Murphy, Lorraine Maxwell, Ria
Malone and super sub Helen Donoghue on their win. Ria has spent years looking after the
Kirwan League and it is great to see her being part of a winning team for the first time.
Thank you all for participating and making my job easy. I hope to see you at the dinner and prize
giving in Sutton Golf Club on May 17th. And if I don’t see you then, I hope I will see you in next
