Resolutions

As bank cash handling now involves the use of cards rather than signed documents, a motion was drafted as follows to be appended to Art 12 of the DNR Constitution:

At each quarterly meeting the Honorary Treasurer will deliver a record of all transactions and a bank statement with which transactions have been reconciled.

Proposed by: Teriona Rogan, Seconded by Michael O’Keeffe.

The motion was carried by a majority.

Outgoing President’s Address

Michael expressed his appreciation of Malahide Regional Bridge Club’s generosity to Dublin North Region.  He congratulated Mary Kelly Rogers on her appointment to the Women’s Committee of the European Bridge League and invited her to address the attendance.

Report from Sub-Committees

There currently is no sub-committee.

Report from Development Officers

Mary Reid said that this year’s emphasis was on Novices.  The McLoughlin Trophy had an increase of 2 Tables.  Competition entries this year were increased.  Mary stressed the new Dublin Congress on 3rd – 5th July, a development from the previous M50 Tournament, and encouraged entries.

Election of Delegates to the National AGM

The Region is allowed six Delegates to vote at the AGM of the C.B.A.I. in July. Michael O’Keeffe, Mary Reid, Kay McDonald, Phil Brohoon, Mary Kelly Rogers, were elected.  There were no other nominees.  Committee did not propose President Elect Martin McMahon, as they understood that would not be home on time for the AGM.

Council Members to attend Governing Council Meetings

Along with the President, Hon. Secretary, and County Development Officers, we are allowed two further Council Members.  No nominations were received.

Incoming President’s Address:

There was no address from the incoming President – Martin McMahon – as he was unable to attend the meeting.

Any Other Business

Norma Madden (Glasnevin) suggested that a Sub Committee for the Kirwan League would be effective.

Bob Linnane (Malahide) asked that, to avoid clashes with other events, Kirwan League organisers should insist that Malahide Home matches be played on Friday nights.

Mary Cahill (St Marnock’s) felt there should be no penalty against a Team if the opposing Team could not play.

Treasurer stated that as the Accounts are required to be closed on 30th April, the Kirwan League Final day should be brought forward in order to keep the League finances in the current year.

Meeting concluded at 7.15pm

Next DNR AGM 10th June, 2016
